Hard Seltzer Reviews - Episode 1: White Claw vs Truly vs Bud Light Seltzer vs Corona Seltzer
Welcome to the my first hard seltzer review! For this review I wanted to try the four main brands that everyone sees when they go down the hard seltzer aisle. Normally, I would write a lot about each brand and their unique value proposition, but everyone is familiar with these brands. They all follow a very simple formula: base brew, artificial flavoring, and carbonation.
For the video with detailed commentary, please view it here.
I like to lead with the results to get straight to the point so here they are:
Brand | Overall | Flavor | Feeling | Untappd Brand (x2) | %ABV | Calories | sugar (g) | carbs (g) | Price/12oz can |
Bud Light Seltzer | 7.2 | 6.9 | 7.5 | 5.9 | 5.0 | 100 | 1 | 2 | $1.42 |
White Claw | 7.2 | 6.8 | 7.5 | 6.7 | 5.0 | 110 | 3 | 2 | $1.50 |
Corona Seltzer | 6.3 | 5.5 | 7.0 | 6.2 | 4.5 | 90 | 0 | 0 | $1.33 |
Truly | 5.6 | 5.1 | 6.0 | 6.4 | 5.0 | 100 | 1 | 2 |
$1.29 |
Bud Light edged White Claw in our taste tests and both of these brands have about the same drunk feeling you get. Quality alcohol but not the best. I definitely feel more bad than good after 3-4 cans. Truly suffered due to their bad aftertaste and Corona Seltzer was sub-par in taste and alcohol. I will say that I've tried Truly lemonade and it's fantastic, so maybe after I review those flavors the brand will be redeemed.
